Survey Finds Computers Responsible For Causing Injury And Illness In UK Workplaces</h2?
A survey of Safety Representatives within different businesses in the UK has revealed that the use of computers in the workplace is one of their major concerns and a common cause of stress, injury and illness.
Injury and Illness From Computers Rose
Injury and illness resulting from the poor use of display screen equipment ie. Computers rose from fourth (2006 survey) in the list of Safety Representatives’ concerns to second (2008 survey). The number one concern was repetitive strain injury.
Survey By TUC Safety Representatives
The survey was conducted by the TUC and more than 2,500 Safety Representatives were surveyed between May and June this year.
3 in 5 Reported Stress or Overwork As Concerning
The survey also found that three in five reported stress or overwork as a concern in their workplace.The highest cases were found in central government, education and the health service.
