Damaged Sight / Hearing Compensation

Damaged sight is always quite alarming. Accidents and injuries cause varying degrees of damage to the eye and any loss of sight can have serious, life changing consequences. Hearing damage is usually the result of exposure to high levels of noise over a long period of time.

A noisy workplace is usually the culprit of hearing damage and the extent of this hearing damage may not be fully realised until years later. If your hearing has been injured in the workplace this is often referred to as industrial deafness.

Amount of Compensation

The amount of compensation that you could be awarded will be dependent upon the specifics of your injuries and the impacts that they have had upon your life. For example, if you have suffered the total loss of hearing in one ear this could result in anywhere between £24,950 – £36,310 in compensation. If you lost sight in one eye this could result in compensation amounts between £43,710 – £52,360.

To find out more about the compensation amounts for different injuries, take a look at our compensation calculator.

Compensation will also take ‘special damages’ into account which is the extra costs that have been accrued as a result of your injuries. For example, if you have been unable to return to work due to your accident then compensation could pay for the loss of financial earnings. To find out how much compensation you are likely to be owed in specific detail it is best to speak to a personal injury solicitor who can assess your case.

About Sight Loss or Hearing Damage Claims

If you have hearing damage or damaged sight due to an accident that wasn’t your fault, First Personal Injury can help. If you have been exposed to high levels of noise without protection at work which has resulted in injury, we can help.

If you have been injured in an accident that wasn’t your fault, it is your right to make a claim if you so wish. This could be in a personal capacity, such as loss of sight due to a serious car accident where your face was injured. It could also be in a work capacity. If your sight or hearing damage was the result of an incident at work which wasn’t your fault or negligent behaviour on the part of your employer, then you should be able to claim. While some people might fear to claim against their employer you should know that any negative action that they took against you as a result of this claim would be seen as wrongful and could bring further legal action against them. No matter the specific environment in which the injuries have occurred, if you were not properly protected or someone else acted negligently then you are eligible to claim.
